Schoenbrunn Palace Tour in Vienna

Ever wanted to know what the mirror was like, in front of which Empress Sisi had her hair done? Or how Emperor Franz Joseph used to sleep? Come to Schoenbrunn Palace and feel the presence of Emperor Franz Joseph, his Empress Sisi and Empress Maria Theresa, who once made Schoenbrunn Palace the Habsburg family´s imperial summer residence. A journey through the centuries is about to begin!

Take a tour through the magnificent state and private rooms of Schoenbrunn Palace and see how the imperial court used to live, feel, think and act. Individual guests will take this tour on their own with an audio guide during the opening hours of Schoenbrunn Palace. Groups of 10 or more will take the palace tour with their individual guide – exclusively and after the official opening hours of Schoenbrunn Palace. 

The Dinner

Who would not like to feel like an emperor or an empress? So why not go ahead and  feel like Emperor Franz Joseph and Empress Elisabeth, enjoying a three-course candlelight dinner at Café-Restaurant Residenz, a restaurant with a long-standing history. It is located in the former kitchen of Schoenbrunn Palace, in the “Ehrenhof”, a court next to the palace´s main entrance. In summer – if  the weather permits – your imperial dinner will be served outside on the restaurant´s comfortable garden terrace.

The Concert in the Orangery in Vienna

Let the Schoenbrunn Palace Orchestra take you on a trip into the very heart of the former imperial Vienna. The sound of Mozart and Strauss, marvellous solo singers and ballet dancers, and the unique setting of the Schoenbrunn Orangery will give you a timeout from the modern world. The Orangery – the former palmery of the Habsburg Emperors – is located only a couple of minutes´ walk from Schoenbrunn Palace. And it is the perfect venue to bring out the best of Mozart´s and Strauss´ unique melodies. Knowing perfectly well about the advantages of this magnificent venue, Emperor Joseph II often used the Orangery as a splendid setting for sumptuous festivities. During one of these festivities, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Salieri competed in a musical contest, remarkably staged by Milos Forman in his movie “Amadeus”. How often do you get the chance to enjoy such brilliant tunes in a truly original venue?
